History
Three versions, one title
Updated 2026-10-18
When I say Tales of Eternia I have to say which disc. I put the years on one timeline after the Famitsu interview, Wikipedia, and RPG Site stopped agreeing with each other about September 2001.
Timeline
| Release | Date | Name on the box |
|---|---|---|
| PS1, Japan | 30 November 2000 | Tales of Eternia |
| PS1, North America | September 2001 | Tales of Destiny II. Day-of-month disagrees: the 10th or the 18th. |
| PS2 | 2002 | Tales of Destiny 2. A different game. Not this remaster. |
| PSP, Japan | 3 March 2005 | Tales of Eternia. North America did not get this PSP release. |
| PSP, Europe / Australia | 9–10 February 2006 | Tales of Eternia, published by Ubisoft in Europe. |
| Remastered | 15 October 2026 consoles, 16 October Steam | Tales of Eternia Remastered. Built from the PSP version. |
Bandai Namco's US page says the game was 'originally released in 2001,' which is the North American year. An EU news line has pointed at 2006, which is the European PSP year. Both are real events. Neither is the Japanese PS1 date. I keep all three.
- Is Destiny 2 the same game?
- PSP versus PS1, and why the remaster looks 16:9.
- Original versus remastered.
- Remaster or remake?
