Boxes

Physical edition, region by region

Updated 2026-10-18

I built this table because the store pages never put the box question in one place. On 17 October 2026 I lined up Bandai Namco EU, RPG Site's DLC guide, and the Nintendo reporters who opened the Switch packaging notes.

A Game-Key Card is not the game on the card. You need a download. The Switch 1 box, in the European and Japanese reports I read, holds the full game. NintendoReporters and GoNintendo both describe that split. I would not assume a US retailer will get a local print.

North America

If you are buying in the US or Canada, plan on a download. RPG Site's edition guide says the same thing: physical stock is Europe and Japan. Importing a European Switch card gives you the game on the card, but the text languages are the global set (English included), not a separate 'English version' SKU. I have not held an import box myself; I am repeating the published packaging notes.

Import and preorder extras

The Japanese special box is a different product from the standard physical. Dengeki lists badges, an acrylic scene, illustration cards, and stickers, plus a higher yen price. That breakdown lives on the price and editions page so this one stays about whether a box exists at all. Early-purchase items in Japan were a consumable set, not a code that changes the English script.

Switch owners should also read Switch vs Switch 2 before importing. There is no upgrade path, and the saves do not move. The stick bug is on both Nintendo versions.
